The Board of the Two Oceans Marathon NPC (TOM) acknowledges and appreciates the formal submissions of new Board Appointees by its two Founding Member bodies—Western Province Athletics (WPA) and Celtics Athletics Club—and thanks both entities for their continued engagement and commitment to the governance of the organisation.

We confirm that the nominations were received by 4 July 2025. While our MOI provides guidance on Board functioning during periods of reduced quorum, we have elected to follow a cautious and legally informed governance process. As such, we are presently engaging with our Founding Members to ensure that all new appointments are formally processed in accordance with both the MOI and the Companies Act, and that the Board’s quorum is restored with due regard to organisational integrity.

The Board remains deeply focused on its fiduciary responsibilities, and on steering the organisation through a critical period of realignment and renewal. We wish to reassure our sponsors, stakeholders, and the running community that our full attention is on stabilising the organisation and moving forward decisively into the planning phase for the 2026 edition of the Two Oceans Marathon.

While we acknowledge recent speculation and misinformation in the public domain, we affirm that no formal changes to the Board have been effected at this stage, and no appointee may act in any official capacity until due process has been followed. Statements made to the contrary are premature and potentially misleading.

The TOM Board remains fully committed to ensuring that all governance, legal, and operational steps are aligned with our long-term strategy. That strategy is well underway and underpinned by a shared vision to re-establish the Two Oceans Marathon as Africa’s premier running event, one defined by integrity, excellence, and a deep connection to its community.
